In the afternoon of August 20th, president of China National Theatre for Children Mr. Yin Xiaodong and Artistic Director of Imagination Stage of America Ms. Janet Stanford had a cordial meeting. They gave a brief introduction of both two theatres and talked about cooperative intention in the future. Ms. Stanford is one of the distinguished guests who are invited to the International Children’s Drama Salon of the 6th China Children’s Theatre Festival. She is recommended by Chinese embassy minister counselor Mr. Li Hong.
Firstly, Mr. Yin gives a brief introduction about the overall situation of CNTC, the creation of theatre, performances and international cooperation as well as China Children’s Theatre Festival. In response to the question raised by Ms. Stanford on the creation of the repertoire of CNTC, Mr. Yin said that the CNTC is the only one national children’s art group that belongs to the Chinese Ministry of culture. Most of the creative teams are from CNTC. It also cooperates with domestic and foreign outstanding teams or artists. CNTC’s aim is to provide the best works of art for the children.
When it comes to International Drama Salon, Mr. Yin said that this activity is for children theatre artists from all over the world gather together and promote communication and cooperation. In the past two Drama Salons, many cooperative results have been achieved. The first one is artists exchanging. The second one is repertoires exchanging. The third one is inviting performing troupes to each other’s country.
Then Ms. Stanford also gives a brief introduction about the overall situation about Imagination Stage of America. As a national important art institution, Imagination Stage provides people in Washington D.C. with first-class teen theatre, children theatre, theatre education programs. It has also established abroad partnership with America, Europe and Scandinavian countries and invited artists from Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Welsh, Germany and Northern Ireland and other countries to cooperate. She really appreciates that she is invited to this drama salon and hopes that in the following couple of days, she will gain more acknowledgment about Chinese children theatre and find opportunities to cooperate with CNTC.
Mr. Yin says that CNTC has always been insisting on high level of performance and creation quality and it has a strong and professional art team. However, speaks of children’s theatre education, China is a starter while America is kind of experienced on it. He hopes that CNTC and Imagination Stage can grasp the opportunity and promote communication to find a good chance to work together and achieve a specific cooperation project.
