On the evening of August 25th, the 6th China Children’s Theatre Festival which is hosted by China National Theatre for Children holds the closing ceremony in Huairou Theatre in Beijing. The director from The Ministry of Culture Mr. Lv Yuzhong, leaders from Dongcheng District and Huairou District, representatives from domestic and foreign children’s theatre or group, media and lots of audiences review the past 49 days of the theatre festival through a VCR. Many people witness the successful end of the 6th China Children’s Theatre Festival.

The closing ceremony is hosted by vice president of the China Children’s Theatre Festival Organizing Committee and party secretary of China National Theatre for Children Mr. Lei Xining. President of China Children’s Theatre Festival and China National Theatre for Children Mr. Yin Xiaodong delivered a speech. He said that with the theme of “Light children’s hearts and shape their future”, the 6th China Children’s Theatre Festival upheld principles of high quality, low fares and public welfares. Conveyed by children’s theatre and other activities, it has lasted for 49 days. There have been 25 children drama troupes and 46 repertoires from 8 countries and regions attending our festival and attracting over 160,000 audiences with 215 shows. The festival has created a colorful art festival for children and presented the fruitful result of Chinese children drama, promoted communications and cooperation between China and other foreign countries. The festival has received wide attention from news media and recognized and welcomed by the public, especially by children and teenagers.

As an international brand to promote the development of children’s drama, the 6th China Children’s Theatre Festival has made many achievements. First one is the harvest of children’s happiness. This time the festival was held in Beijing as a main venue while also had Jinan, Ningbo, and Chengdu as branch venues. Multi provinces and cities held the festival together has added more colorful elements to children’s summer holiday life. In particular, there were special public welfare performance and tickets for more children to benefit from theatre and drama. Besides, children theatre workshops, summer camps, interview meeting and other 15 different activities were carried out so that more children could experience the beauty of theatre during their participation. Second one is the harvest of wonderful repertoires and outstanding performances. Repertoires covered a variety of forms and flourished in the theatre festival platform, which has showed the achievement in the development of children’s theatre and achieved mutual learning and improvement. The third one is to gain some rational thinking about children’s theatre. Drama Salon, as a great platform, has made it possible for lots of artists gathering and communication. 

So far, China Children’s Theatre Festival has been held for 6 years. It always adhere to the principle of “guided by the government, hosted by CNTC, supported by society, operated by business, combined with public welfare and marking”. During the total 6 festivals, there have been 150 children drama troupes and 253 repertoires from 18 countries and regions attending our festival and attracting over 900,000 audiences with 1237 shows. The average occupancy rate is over 95%, which has achieved great social benefits and economic benefits. China Children’s Theatre Festival has become famous brand in China, and even all over the world.

After the closing ceremony, a new original and magical repertoire called “Time Forest” was premiered, which drew a successful conclusion to the 6th China Children’s Theatre Festival.
