From September 30th to October 11th, Ms. Feng Li, Vice President of China National Theatre for Children (CNTC), leading a group of 15 members to visit Montana of the U.S., had a cultural exchange with Missoula Children’s Theatre. 10 kids, aging from 10 to 12, experienced American culture and performed The Princess and The Pea in English with other 48 Missoula kids from Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT).
In the past 10 days, kids from China had many activities arranged by MCT including watching Homecoming Parade and football game, riding horses at ranch, visiting Elk Foundation and watching movie etc. Confucius Institute of Montana University also arranged the kids’ visiting of University of Montana and a local primary school.
On October 8th and 9th, almost 60 kids from China and the U.S. performed The Princess and The Pea for 3 shows on the stage. The performances made a complete success. Local audiences love Chinese kids’ performance very much. After the last show, many American kids were shedding tears since the Chinese kids would leave U.S. the next day. During the last few days, they already became good friends with each other.
This is the first time that CNTC brought kids showing abroad using foreign language. It is also a new step for Chinese theatre, and a meaningful interactivity between China and the U.S. This program listed in the 7th Round China-US High Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange in 2016. This is the third year for CNTC to collaborate with MCT. The two theatres will keep their great relationship and explore more opportunities for cooperation in the future. We believe CNTC will also expand international cooperation and looking forward more cultural exchange.
